Important safety notice
Safely is not a replacement for emergency services. In a life-threatening situation always call 112 (EU) or your local emergency number first. Our SOS feature notifies contacts you chose — not police, fire, or medical dispatchers.
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Safely you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Safely is operated by [App owner — legal entity] ("we").
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create your own Safely account. Children under 16 may use Safely only with the verifiable consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on the child's behalf and remains responsible for the child's use of the service. See §11 of the Privacy Policy for details.
3. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at security@saferoute.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. The service
Safely provides:
- A community map of user-reported safety incidents.
- An SOS button that shares your location with emergency contacts you added.
- Related account and communication features (waitlist, email notifications).
The service is provided "as is" and may change or be interrupted at any time. Location accuracy depends on your device and network conditions.
5. Emergency services disclaimer
- Safely does not connect you to police, fire, ambulance, or any public authority.
- We do not guarantee that SOS notifications will be delivered, received, or acted upon.
- We do not guarantee that any incident report on the map is accurate, complete, or current.
- You are solely responsible for your own safety decisions.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the incident notes, contact names, and any other content you submit. You grant us a limited licence to store, display, and process this content solely to operate the service.
You must not submit false, misleading, harassing, discriminatory, or unlawful content. See the Acceptable Use Policy.
7. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or if we are required to do so by law. You may delete your account at any time from settings; data removal follows the retention schedule in the Privacy Policy.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch and EU law, Safely and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to failure of SOS delivery, inaccurate incident reports, or unavailability of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including in cases of gross negligence or wilful misconduct).
9. Family features
Safely Family lets a parent or legal guardian link a child account, receive SOS alerts for that child, and view the child's location when the child chooses to share it. By using Family features, a parent confirms they are the child's parent or legal guardian and consents on the child's behalf to the processing described in §11 of the Privacy Policy. The parent remains responsible for the child's use of Safely. Only one family per user is supported; a child cannot unlink themselves from a family — they can only ask the parent to remove them, and we notify the parent when they do. Invites carry a short cool-down window before they can be redeemed so a link created in error can be revoked in time.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in Amsterdam, unless mandatory consumer-protection law grants you the right to another forum.
